🚀 Getting Started

How do I upload a video?+
From the dashboard, click "+ Create New" or navigate to the Clip Generator section. You can paste a YouTube URL or upload a video file directly. Supported formats include MP4, MOV, and WebM. The maximum file size depends on your plan.
What video formats are supported?+
ApexClip supports MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, and AVI. For best results, we recommend uploading MP4 files with H.264 encoding. YouTube URLs are also supported — we'll download and process the video automatically.
How does clip detection work?+
Our AI analyzes your video's audio transcript and visual content to identify the most engaging moments. It scores each potential clip based on factors like topic coherence, emotional intensity, narrative completeness, and viral potential. The highest-scoring segments are presented as suggested clips.
How long does processing take?+
Processing time depends on video length: a 30-minute video typically takes 3-5 minutes for transcription and clip detection. Rendering each clip (with captions and reframing) takes about 1-2 minutes per clip. Pro plan users get priority processing.

💳 Credits & Billing

How does the credit system work?+
Credits are consumed when you perform actions: uploading a video uses credits for transcription, each clip render uses credits, and publishing uses credits. Each plan includes a monthly credit allotment. Your credits reset at the beginning of each billing cycle.
What happens when I run out of credits?+
When you've used all your credits, you can either upgrade your plan for more credits or enable overage billing in Settings to continue processing at a per-credit rate. Free plan users will need to wait until their next monthly reset or upgrade.
Can I cancel my subscription?+
Yes, you can cancel anytime from Settings → Billing. Your plan benefits continue until the end of the current billing period. After cancellation, your account reverts to the free plan. Your generated clips remain accessible.
Do unused credits roll over?+
No, unused credits do not roll over to the next billing period. We recommend using your credits throughout the month for the best value.

Features

What is Smart Reframing?+
Smart Reframing automatically converts your landscape (16:9) video into portrait (9:16) format for platforms like YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram Reels. It uses AI to track the active speaker or area of interest so the important visual content stays centered.
How do automated captions work?+
ApexClip generates word-level captions from your video's audio using AI transcription. Captions are styled and animated with customizable fonts, colors, and effects. They're burned into the video so they display correctly on every platform without requiring closed captions support.
What is Autopilot mode?+
Autopilot is a hands-off workflow that automatically processes your uploaded videos, generates clips, applies captions and reframing, and optionally publishes them to your connected social accounts. It's perfect for creators who want to set it and forget it.

👤 Account

How do I delete my account?+
Go to Settings → Account and click "Delete Account." This will permanently remove your account, all generated clips, and associated data. This action cannot be undone. If you have an active subscription, please cancel it first.
How do I change my password?+
Go to Settings → Account to update your password. If you signed up with Google or Apple, you don't have a password — your account is secured through your OAuth provider.

📤 Publishing

How do I connect my YouTube channel?+
Go to Integrations in the dashboard and click "Connect YouTube." You'll be prompted to sign in with your Google account and authorize ApexClip to upload videos. We only request the minimum permissions needed to publish content.
Can I schedule posts?+
Yes! Starter and Pro plans include scheduling. Use the Calendar view to drag and drop clips to specific dates and times. You can schedule up to 30 days in advance across all connected platforms.

🔧 Troubleshooting

My video is stuck at "Processing"+
If processing takes longer than expected, try: (1) Refresh the page, (2) Check the Downloads section for completed clips, (3) If still stuck after 15 minutes, the video may have an unsupported codec — try converting to MP4 (H.264) and re-uploading. Contact support if the issue persists.
Captions are out of sync+
Caption sync issues can happen with low-quality audio or overlapping speakers. Try: (1) Ensure your source video has clear audio, (2) Check if the correct language is selected, (3) Use the clip editor to manually adjust caption timing if needed.
YouTube publishing fails+
Common causes: (1) Your YouTube connection has expired — go to Integrations and reconnect, (2) The video exceeds YouTube's daily upload limit, (3) Your YouTube channel may have restrictions. Try disconnecting and reconnecting your account in Integrations.
